Sean Decatur

Sean Decatur currently serves as President of the American Museum of Natural History since April 2023. Prior to this role, Sean Decatur held the position of President and then President Emeritus at Kenyon College from July 2013 onwards. Between July 2008 and June 2013, Sean Decatur was the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Oberlin College. Earlier in their career, Sean Decatur was a Professor of Chemistry at Mount Holyoke College from 1995 to 2008 and also served as Associate Dean of Faculty during that time. In terms of education, Sean Decatur earned a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from Stanford University and holds a BA in Chemistry, Biology, and Black Studies from Swarthmore College.
