Senior Vice President For Government Relations And Public Policy at ANSI - American National Standards Institute

Mary Saunders has a strong background in government relations and standards development. Mary currently holds the position of Nonresident Fellow at the Atlantic Council GeoTech Center. Prior to this, Mary was the Vice President for Government Relations and Public Policy at the American National Standards Institute, where they worked on advocating for the use of voluntary consensus standards by government agencies. From 2011 to 2017, Mary worked at NIST in various roles, including Associate Director for Management Resources and Director of the Standards Coordination Office. Before that, they served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing and Services at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Mary's work experience in standards and government relations dates back to their tenure at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Department of Commerce in the 1990s and 1980s, respectively.

Mary Saunders holds a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) degree in International Relations and Affairs from Princeton University, which was obtained from 1977 to 1979. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Economics at Vanderbilt University from 1973 to 1977.
