Derek Madsen

Derek Madsen is an accomplished leader in nonprofit management with extensive experience in fundraising and development across various organizations. Currently serving as Chief Development Officer at Anera since July 2022, Madsen drives global fundraising strategies for humanitarian aid, overseeing annual contributions exceeding $220 million. Prior roles include Executive Vice President of Resource Development and Strategic Initiatives at CommonBond Communities, where Madsen led efforts to support 15,000 individuals by 2025, and CEO of Winona Family YMCA, focused on meeting community needs. Early career highlights include significant contributions to youth intervention programs at the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities. Madsen holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Minnesota.
