Julia Frantz

Scientific Reader at American Optometric Association

Julia Frantz is a scientist with extensive experience in molecular biology and microbiology. Currently, Julia serves as a Scientist at Aferna Bio since February 2022 and has been a Scientific Reader for the American Optometric Association since January 2018. Prior to these roles, Julia spent over 23 years at Monsanto, progressing from Research Technician to Vector Pipeline Lead, where Julia managed a team of over 10 research associates and led efforts in plasmid vector construction and novel protein expression in plants. Julia holds a Master of Arts in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis (1997-2000) and a Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology from Miami University (1985-1989).

American Optometric Association

The American Optometric Association represents approximately 39,000 doctors of optometry, optometry students and paraoptometric assistants and technicians. Optometrists serve patients in nearly 6,500 communities across the country, and in 3,500 of those communities are the only eye doctors.
