Robert Rosner

Robert Rosner is a distinguished physicist with extensive experience in academia and research institutions. Currently serving as the President of the American Physical Society (APS Physics) since January 2022, Rosner has also held the position of President-Elect earlier in 2022. At The University of Chicago, where Rosner has been a faculty member since 1987, the William E. Wrather Distinguished Service Professor focuses on theoretical physics, particularly in plasma physics, fluid dynamics, and astrophysics. Rosner's work includes significant contributions to energy research and policy, particularly nuclear energy, through involvement with the Energy Policy Institute of Chicago (EPIC), co-founding the institute with Robert Topel. Prior leadership roles include Director of Argonne National Laboratory and Chief Scientist, showcasing a strong commitment to scientific advancement and education. Rosner holds a PhD in Physics from Harvard University and a BA in Physics from Brandeis University.
