Lauralyn Randles has a range of work experience in the field of visual impairment. Lauralyn started their career in 2012 as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired at Racine Unified School District, where they worked until June 2013. From August 2013 to April 2014, they worked as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired at School City of East Chicago. In April 2012, Lauralyn joined Lincolnway Area Special Education Cooperative as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist and remained in this role until June 2016. During the same period, they also served as a Doctoral Fellow at the National Leadership Consortium of Sensory Disabilities from 2016 to 2020. In August 2016, they began working as a Course Instructor and graduate assistant at Illinois State University, a position they held until August 2021. Currently, Lauralyn is the Tests and Assessments Product Manager at American Printing House for the Blind and is also serving as the Director of Product Advancement starting from June 2023.
Lauralyn Randles has an extensive educational background in the field of special education and visual impairments. Lauralyn obtained their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Special Education/Visual Impairments from Illinois State University, graduating in 2020. Prior to that, they completed a Certification in Early Intervention-Vision at the same university from 2015 to 2016.
In 2011, Lauralyn earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Vision, Orientation and Mobility from Northern Illinois University. Before pursuing their master's degree, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Special Education and Teaching from Bradley University, graduating in 2009.
Furthermore, Lauralyn possesses several additional certifications related to their field. In 2011, they became a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals. Lauralyn also holds certifications as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, Early Childhood Educator, Elementary Education Generalist, and Learning Behavior Specialist 1, all obtained from the Illinois State Board of Education. Additionally, Lauralyn obtained the IAAP Certified Professionals in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals in 2023.
