Lindsay Childress-Beatty

Lindsay Childress-Beatty, CAE, serves as the Chief of Ethics at the American Psychological Association since June 2007, where a future-oriented strategic vision has been applied to enhance the ethics of psychology and promote ethical values in society. Previous role as Interim Director of Ethics included significant achievements such as a custom online case review system leading to substantial cost savings, a paper-to-electronic transition for enhanced usability, and the initiation of the Ethics Code Task Force. Earlier experience includes positions as Deputy Director and Director of Adjudication, and Deputy General Counsel at the American Psychological Association, where primary legal advice was provided across various domains impacting over 600 staff. Initial legal career as an Associate Attorney at Mayer Brown focused on business law. Academic credentials include a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, a JD, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, and a BA, cum laude, in English, History, and German from Miami University.
