Allen was also a Research Assistant from January 1996 to January 2001, an Instructor from January 1997 to January 1998, and a Teaching Assistant from January 1996 to January 1997.

W. Allen Richman has a Ph.D. in Developmental and Child Psychology from The University of Kansas, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003. Prior to that, they received a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Developmental and Child Psychology from The University of Kansas from 1996 to 1999. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English / Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas at Austin, which they earned from 1991 to 1996.
