Matthew Dickens has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as a Statistical/Research Analyst at the American Public Transportation Association from July 2008 to July 2010. Matthew then served as a Statistician from June 2010 to March 2012, followed by their position as a Policy Analyst from March 2012 to January 2017. In this role, they collected and analyzed data while also writing policy papers on various industry issues. Subsequently, they held the position of Senior Policy Analyst from January 2017 to July 2021, where they continued their work in data analysis and policy research. From July 2021 to July 2023, they served as the Director of Policy Development and Research, overseeing the organization's policy research and statistics initiatives. Currently, Matthew works as a Senior Director of Policy Development & Research, providing thought leadership and leading advocacy efforts at the American Public Transportation Association. Before joining APTA, they gained experience as a Coordinator at the Corporate Executive Board from September 2006 to July 2008, assisting directors and managing organization tasks. Prior to that, Matthew worked as a GIS Specialist at Macalester College from February 2006 to July 2006, where they created tour maps and conducted research and writing for historical and other sites of interest in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Matthew Dickens attended Macalester College from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography.
