Melissa B. Hurst

Melissa B. Hurst is the current Chief Human Resources Officer at American Red Cross. Melissa started their career at American Red Cross in January 1998 as Deputy General Counsel. In this position, they advised the Red Cross and managed a staff of lawyers and paralegals providing legal support for Red Cross’s Humanitarian Services operations and corporate functions in the areas of employment and labor law, contracts, trusts & estates, tax, real estate management, general business transactions, ethics and compliance, government relations and litigation.

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Melissa practiced law in a boutique-DC law firm specializing in labor and employment law. Her practice focused on advising corporate clients on a wide-range of employment, labor and human resources issues and representing their clients before various agencies and state and federal courts.

Melissa B. Hurst is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School and Villanova University. Melissa has a Juris Doctor degree in law and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.
