Rebecca Scheurer currently serves as the Global Lead for Disaster Preparedness at the American Red Cross since October 2023. Previously, Scheurer was the Executive Director of Scheurer Consulting, where responsibilities included strategic planning and partnerships aimed at reducing climate and disaster risk for vulnerable populations. Prior experience includes roles such as Director of Humanitarian Initiatives at the Atlantic Council, where Scheurer focused on extreme heat impacts in urban settings, and Humanitarian Director at The Nature Conservancy, leading nature-based solutions for coastal community resilience. As the Founding Director of the Global Disaster Preparedness Center at the American Red Cross, Scheurer contributed to disaster management capacity building globally. Additional experience includes various positions in disaster services with the American Red Cross and the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance at USAID. Education includes a Master's degree in International Development from The George Washington University.
