Karina Miller, PhD, serves as the Manager of Advocacy and Public Affairs at the American Society of Human Genetics since January 2022, after previously holding the role of Policy & Advocacy Specialist. Prior experience includes being a Pre-Doctoral Candidate in Cancer Genetics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center from August 2013 to April 2020, where research was conducted under the mentorship of Irwin H. Gelman, PhD. During this time, Karina Miller developed a seminar series aimed at enhancing science communication among graduate students to engage with the Roswell Park patient community. Additionally, Karina Miller held the position of Vice Chair for the Roswell Park Science Policy Group, contributing to science policy discussions and creating policy briefs. As a co-founder and Secretary of Buffalo Women in STEMM from 2013 to 2017, Karina Miller was involved in fostering networking and educational opportunities for women in STEMM fields. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Cancer Genetics from the University at Buffalo Graduate School and a BS in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
