Carrie Smith, MS, CAE has a diverse work experience in the field of education and management. Carrie is currently serving as the Chief of Learning at the American Thoracic Society since 2022. Previously, they worked as the Director of Education at the American Society of Hematology from 2018 to 2022. Before that, they held positions at the American College of Radiology, where they served as the Senior Director of Education Operations from 2013 to 2019 and as the Director of Education from 2010 to 2013. Carrie also worked as the Director of Professional Education and Research at the Casualty Actuarial Society from 2007 to 2010. Earlier in their career, they held the role of Education Program Manager (International & Web-Based Education) at the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) from 2005 to 2007, and as the Education Coalition Manager at Infotech Strategies, Inc. from 2003 to 2005.
Carrie Smith, MS, CAE holds a Master's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management, which they obtained from the University of Maryland Global Campus between 2017 and 2020. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature at Howard University. Currently, Carrie is pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Organizational Innovation at Marymount University, with a projected completion date in 2024. Additionally, they are a Certified Association Executive (CAE) certified by the American Society of Association Executives since 2010.
