Nikhita Puthuveetil

Nikhita Puthuveetil is a Senior Bioinformatician at ATCC since March 2020, specializing in comparative analyses of long read de novo assembly techniques for DNA viruses, particularly herpesviruses. Nikhita has developed workflows in Bash and Python, contributing to the publication of over 1,500 genomes on the ATCC Genome Portal, and created dedicated pipelines for SARS-CoV-2 variant reporting. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University, where Nikhita developed a Bash program for mothur analysis, and as a Teaching Assistant, assisting students with bacteriophage studies. Nikhita holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics from Virginia Commonwealth University.
