Sandy McCarthy

President, Retirement Services at OneAmerica

Sandy McCarthy is president of Retirement Services. She leads all Retirement Services (RS) functions, including Institutional Markets, defined contribution and defined benefits services with a strong focus on customized retirement plans. She is a member of the OneAmerica Executive Council and joined OneAmerica in 2018.

Previously she spent seven years in leadership roles as a senior partner at Mercer, where she served as North America Region Benefits Administration Business Leader, following positions in global client management and as Asia Pacific Outsourcing Business Leader/CEO. Before joining Mercer, Sandy was a 14-year contributor at ING (now Voya) and its legacy companies, serving as president, Institutional Plan Services. Prior to the acquisition of CitiStreet by ING in 2008, she served as president and board member of CitiStreet, LLC. Her past leadership positions also include service with Fidelity Investments, Bank of America, State Street and her own consulting firm, SDM Strategic Solutions.

Sandy graduated with honors from Tufts University in Medford, Mass., where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts in sociology/education and a Master of Arts in education. She also completed a Master of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

She served on the board of directors of the American Benefits Council, Employee Benefits Research Institute, Spark Institute and Boys and Girls Club of Middlesex County, Massachusetts. She was also a founding member of the Superannuation Industry Leadership Group in Australia. She currently serves on the board of the American Red Cross and the board of trustees for the Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf, and is a mentor for the Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll) program.
