Stephen J. Sibbitt

Trustee at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine

Dr. Sibbitt is board-certified in Internal Medicine and is currently the Chief Medical Officer, Temple Region, including the flagship Hospital (Scott & White Memorial Hospital) and Associate Central Division Chief Medical Officer for Baylor Scott & White Health. In addition Dr. Sibbitt is a member of the Scott & White Clinic Board of Directors, the Scott & White Healthcare Board of Trustees, the Metroplex-Adventist Hospital Board of Directors, and the Baylor Scott & White Health-Continuing Care Hospital Board of Directors.

Born and raised in Canada, Dr. Sibbitt completed his Honors Bachelor of Science degree at McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He then went on to complete both his Medical Degree and Master of Science degree with the American University of the Caribbean. Dr. Sibbitt completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, in 1997. He remained at UTMB to complete a Chief Residency year and then became the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency in 1998. Dr. Sibbitt joined Baylor Scott & White Health in 2003 and assumed the role of Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Scott & White Memorial Hospital / Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine from February 2005 until October 2008. Dr. Sibbitt's has been active with medical education, participating with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, and the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians, on resident and student scholarly activities. Dr. Sibbitt has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, and continues to speak at continuing medical education meetings on topics in Internal Medicine, Hospital Quality and Patient Safety, and various hospital administration issues. In February 2011, Dr. Sibbitt was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society (Texas Chapter). In September 2011, Dr. Sibbitt was promoted to Associate Professor with Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. In May 2016, Dr. Sibbitt completed his Masters of Business Administration with Baylor University, and graduated Beta Sigma Gamma.

In addition to his role as Chief Medical Officer for the Temple Region, Dr. Sibbitt holds leadership positions on many regional professional and medical societies including serving as a current member of the Texas Hospital Association Board of Trustees, and the Texas Care Alliance Board of Directors, and previously serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Texas ACP, and the Healthcare Coalition of Texas.
