Clare McCann

Clare McCann currently serves as the Managing Director of Policy and Operations at the Postsecondary Equity & Economics Research (PEER) Center at American University, a position held since September 2024. Prior experience includes roles as Director of Higher Education and Higher Education Fellow at Arnold Ventures from August 2022 to September 2024, and Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education from April 2021 to August 2022. Clare also worked at New America as Deputy Director for Federal Higher Education Policy and Senior Policy Analyst from February 2017 to April 2021. Additionally, Clare served as a Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education from January 2015 to January 2017 and as a Policy Analyst for the Education Policy Program at New America Foundation from May 2011 to December 2014. Clare earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus on Public Policy from The George Washington University between 2007 and 2011.
