Mark Auslander is an accomplished academic with extensive experience in anthropology and museum studies. Currently serving as a Visiting Lecturer at Mount Holyoke College, Auslander teaches courses on language, decolonization in museums, and multispecies ethnography, while focusing research on topics such as slavery, materiality, and human-animal interactions in southern Africa. Auslander's previous roles include Director of the Michigan State University Museum, Associate Professor at Central Washington University, and positions as a Visiting Research Scholar and Director of Special Projects at Brandeis University and The Natural History Museum, respectively. Auslander holds a PhD, MA, and BA in Anthropology from the University of Chicago.
