Sharon Metcalf

Sharon Metcalf is the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Programs at American University School of Communication since October 2008, where responsibilities include creating and leading partnerships with prominent organizations such as Discovery, NPR, and the Washington Post to enhance professional opportunities for faculty and students in journalism, film, and communication. Prior experience includes serving as a Communications Strategy Consultant at the U.S. Green Building Council, where focus was on expanding a national education portal for the green building industry, and as Director of Professional Development at Discovery Communications, managing programs that monetized video archives. Earlier roles included significant positions at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, NBC News, The White House, and ABC News, all contributing to a comprehensive background in media relations, education, and communication strategy. Sharon holds an M.A. in Public Communication from American University and a B.A. in Communications & Education from Penn State University.
