Melanie Simons, MPH, serves as the Grants Program Manager at the American Water Works Association since June 2022. Previously, Melanie held multiple roles at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment from July 1991 to June 2021, including Senior Member of the COVID-19 Response Team, where responsibilities included managing the distribution of PPE and therapeutics during the pandemic. Melanie also managed the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program/Grant, overseeing a budget exceeding $10 million and supporting local health departments. Additionally, experience includes leading the Colorado Strategic National Stockpile Program and coordinating public health training efforts. Melanie holds a Master's degree in Public Health from Boston University and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder.
