Shawn Allen

Shawn Allen has extensive experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), currently serving as the Director of GIS at American Water since January 2013, where responsibilities include managing the GIS programs in Illinois and Iowa, developing strategic work plans, and implementing innovative data collection solutions such as GPS and drone programs. Previous experience includes roles as a Geospatial Analyst and GIS Instructor Technical Lead at Esri, where contributions involved providing technical guidance to various transportation agencies, mentoring colleagues, and developing training materials for GIS technologies. Additionally, Shawn managed multiple GIS projects for the Barren River Area Development District and developed GIS curricula at Western Kentucky University, where Shawn earned both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in GIS and related fields.
