Toni Tipton-Martin has held various roles throughout their career. In 1999, they worked as a Food and Nutrition Consultant for TTM Enterprises, Inc. From 2008 to 2020, they founded and directed The SANDE Youth Project, a nonprofit organization focused on community wellness through cultural heritage, gardening, cooking, and nutrition. In 2010, they served as the curator for The Jemima Code - The Exhibit, a traveling installation showcasing the history of African American cooks. Additionally, they were an honoree in Aetna's 2016 African American Calendar and hosted the bi-annual symposium, Soul Summit: A Food Conversation, through The SANDE Youth Project. In 2011, they became a founding member of Foodways Texas, an organization that preserves and celebrates the diverse food cultures of Texas. More recently, they joined Penguin Publishing Group as an award-winning author of the cookbook, Jubilee: Recipes From Two Centuries of African American Cooking, and became the Editor In Chief at America's Test Kitchen in September 2020.
Toni Tipton-Martin attended the University of Southern California from 1978 to 1981, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism.
