John McDonough has extensive experience in the education industry. John is currently the Chief Product Officer at Amerigo Education since June 2021. Prior to that, they were the CEO & President - Co-Owner of UTP High Schools since July 2011. UTP High Schools offers specialized programs for international students in US high schools. Before that, John worked as the Senior International Marketing Manager at Study Group from October 2009 to September 2011. John also served as the USA Programs Manager and Programs Manager at Study Group from October 2006 to March 2008 and from September 2004 to September 2006, respectively.

John McDonough has a diverse education history with a focus on political economy, language, and international affairs. John first attended The George Washington University from 1999 to 2003, where they pursued a degree in International Affairs and Russian Language. Following this, in 2004, they briefly studied Russian Language and Culture at Saint Petersburg State University. In 2008, McDonough attended the Beijing Language and Culture University for a language course in Chinese. Later in the same year, they pursued a degree in Comparative Political Economy with a focus on Russia and China's Political Economic Development at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
