Rana Biswas is an accomplished physicist and senior scientist with extensive experience in photonics and solar materials. Currently serving as an adjunct professor and senior scientist at Iowa State University and Ames National Laboratory since 1987, Rana has led notable research programs focused on photonic crystals, light trapping in thin film solar cells, and the modeling and simulation of light emission from OLEDs. Previous positions include senior scientist at Ames Laboratory, consultant roles at Exxon Research & Engineering and Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, and postdoctoral member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Labs, where significant contributions to surface and semiconductor physics were made, including the development of a widely cited silicon interatomic potential. Rana earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Cornell University from 1978 to 1984.
