Andrew Nelson

CFO at Amey

Andrew Nelson was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director on the Amey Plc Board in September 2006.

Andrew joined Amey in 1999 as Finance Director of the project finance entity responsible for initiating, structuring, and investing in PFI and PPP opportunities. After Ferrovial’s acquisition of Amey in 2003, Andrew was appointed Group Treasurer.

During his time at Amey, he has been instrumental in successfully concluding bids for the £1.8 billion Tube Lines PPP, the £500 million MoD Whitehall refurbishment, and the £300 million Glasgow Schools program. He negotiated the sale of Amey’s investment portfolio to Laing Investments in early 2003 and played a lead role in the negotiations to acquire Amey's additional share in Tube Lines Limited, the acquisition of Owen Williams’ consultancy in 2006, and the acquisition of Enterprise plc in 2013.

Andrew began his career at Arthur Young, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1983. He has worked for Robert Fleming in corporate finance and London Electricity in treasury and corporate finance during the period when that company was sold first to Entergy and then to EdF.

Andrew is Treasurer Trustee of Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity, and Treasurer of the Kandahar Ski Club. He studied Engineering Science at the University of Exeter before training as an accountant.
