Joseph Isahack

Senior Director of Information Technology and Information Security at amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research

Joseph Isahack has over 30 years of experience in the field of information technology. Joseph began their career as a Research Assistant at the Research Foundation of CUNY in 1990. Joseph then worked as an Information Systems Analyst at Baruch College from 1992 to 1994, where they served as a database administrator for the alumni database and provided IT support for the Controller and Baruch College Fund.

In 1994, Joseph joined Jacobson Consulting Applications as a Fundraising and Network Systems Consultant. Joseph was responsible for leading the transition of nonprofit fundraising systems, providing hardware and software installation and support, and managing the conversion of fundraising and financial databases for various New York City organizations.

From 1995 to 1996, Joseph worked as an IT Contractor for their own business, where they installed fundraising management systems, performed data migration and conversion, and provided hardware, software, and training support.

In 1996, Joseph joined the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) as an Information Technology Manager. Joseph'srole involved managing CRI's network, fundraising, grants, and financial databases. Joseph also supervised data entry personnel and served as the webmaster for all CRI sites.

In 2005, Joseph joined amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, initially as a Manager of Information Technology. In this role, they were responsible for network connectivity, implementation, integration, and troubleshooting of various technologies. Joseph also managed the Foundation's Help Desk department and implemented network monitoring, security, and protection methods.

Joseph's responsibilities at amfAR grew over the years, and they eventually became the Director of Information Technology. In this role, they provided strategic direction, design, management, support, and implementation of amfAR's technology infrastructure across multiple office locations. Joseph worked with various teams to enhance current technologies and improve client services.

In 2019, Joseph took on the additional role of Senior Director of Information Technology and Information Security at amfAR. Joseph developed and implemented the foundation's cybersecurity risk assessment and response plan, as well as a security and monitoring framework. Joseph also took on responsibilities in budgeting and security and compliance audit management.

Joseph Isahack has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Hunter College. In addition, they have obtained a certification in Cybersecurity MicroMasters from edX in March 2018.
