Koen van Gestel

Koen van Gestel is the regional account manager for East African and Sub-Saharan Africa at AMF. Koen has over 25 years of experience in the baking and food industry, having worked their way up from an apprentice position to their current role.

Koen started their career as an apprentice at a small bakery in the Netherlands. Koen quickly learned the trade and after a few years, they were promoted to head baker. In this role, Koen was responsible for overseeing the production of breads, pastries, and cakes. Koen also began to develop their own recipes and build a reputation as a skilled baker.

In 2009, Koen left the bakery to start their own business, Bakery Initiatives Group. As a bakery consultant, Koen helped bakeries improve their overall performance by providing customized consultancy services and turn-key solutions. Koen also assisted bakeries with the initial planning and development stages of new projects.

In 2015, Koen joined AMF as the regional account manager for East African and Sub-Saharan Africa. In this role, they are responsible for managing AMF’s relationships with customers in these regions and ensuring that they are satisfied with AMF’s products and services.

Koen is a highly skilled baker with a passion for helping others succeed in the baking industry. Koen has a proven track record of success in improving the performances of bakeries around the world.

Koen van Gestel has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Avans University of Applied Sciences, with a focus in Management, Economics and Law. Koen also has an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Avans University of Applied Sciences. Koen van Gestel is a Bakery Teacher at NBC (Dutch Bakery Centre), where they teach Mental and Practical Coaching. Koen is also certified in Bakery Management from Curio, with a focus in baking technology, bakery management, general management, and people training. Lastly, Koen van Gestel is an Entrepeneur Starter from Curio.

Koen van Gestel works with Jim Joe Helou - Regional Account Manager, Middle East & Lebanon, Ross Sandlin - Director of Sales, AMF Americas, and Jonathan Edrich - Regional Account Manager, Eastern US. Their manager is Jason Ward, President.
