Jxhn Martin

Director, Queer Resource Center at Amherst College

John Martin is the current Director of the Queer Resource Center at Amherst College. Before taking on this role, John was a Campus Organizer for the Communications Workers of America, Local 1104, Education Division. In this role, John worked to engage students in activism and organizing around social justice issues. Prior to their work with the Communications Workers of America, John interned with the Center for Prevention and Outreach at Stony Brook University. In this role, they worked to develop and implement programming aimed at reducing sexual violence on campus. John is a passionate advocate for social justice and has dedicated their career to working with marginalized communities.

John Martin attended Stony Brook University for both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. Jxhn received a Bachelor's in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Cultural Analysis and Theory. Jxhn then went on to receive their Master of Arts in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration.

Jxhn Martin reports to Angie Tissi-Gassoway, Interim Chief Equity & Inclusion Officer. Some of their coworkers include Lupita Mendez - Director, Class and Access Resource Center, Eboni Rafus-Brenning - Director, Multicultural Resource Center.
