Our mission is to provide a high level of safety and police services for the 122,366 residents of Amherst, the largest suburb of Buffalo, located in upstate Western New York. Amherst was founded in 1818 and covered 53.5 square miles. We also provide police services for the Village of Williamsville, which is located within the town boundaries. It is our goal to maintain a proactive approach to resolve all public safety concerns and quality of life issues that may arise in order to maintain our ranking as one of the safest communities in the country.
