Nigel Smith

Nigel Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and countries. Nigel worked as a Construction Project Engineer in various positions after graduating from the University of Canterbury. Nigel then entered the superyacht industry as a Captain, Engineer, and First Mate. Nigel also worked as a Senior Civil Construction Engineer at Laing O'Rourke and as an Operations Manager at Watpac Civil and Mining. Nigel later served as an Area Manager/Senior Engineer for the Cough Curtain Joint Venture (CCJV), where they contributed to the construction of PNGLNG. Nigel also held multiple roles at Chevron, including Area Construction Manager, Delivery Lead, and SMP Civil Superintendent. Nigel further gained experience as a Site Manager at Mondium and a Construction Manager at Rio Tinto. Nigel is currently the Bulk Civils and Infrastructure Lead at Santos Ltd and will soon be the Project Director at PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara. Throughout their career, Nigel has demonstrated leadership and expertise in construction and project management.

Nigel Smith completed their Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury from 1992 to 1994. Prior to this, they studied Civil Engineering at the University of Otago for one year in 1991.
