Maya Moussawi

Maya Moussawi serves as the Global Head of News and Media at Amnesty International since September 2023, leading a global team to manage the organization’s written news and media outputs. Prior to this role, Maya had a distinguished tenure at BBC from July 2007 to June 2023, where responsibilities included Assistant Editor for BBC News Arabic, overseeing digital-first news coverage and commissioning impactful content, Senior Broadcast Journalist with extensive experience in field reporting, and played a crucial role in the launch of BBC News Arabic TV. Earlier career milestones include writing and reporting for Al Arabiya News Channel and serving as English Website Assistant Editor at Al Hayat Newspaper. Maya holds a BA in Communication Arts from Lebanese American University and a French Baccalaureate in Philosophy from Collège Protestant Français Beyrouth.
