Sumin Zhu began their career in 2007 as a Materials Engineering Intern at Hitachi America Ltd. Sumin then moved to Vesuvius USA in 2008, where they held the role of Principal Scientist and Project Leader - Enabling Technologies until 2013. In 2013, Sumin Zhu joined Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Product Marketing Manager, and in 2014 they became a Founding Partner and Co-Owner of MSE Supplies LLC as well as a Product Line Manager at Bruker. In 2017, Sumin Zhu was appointed Co-Founder and CEO of Ampcera Inc., where they have since grown the company to have 200+ paying customers worldwide and has enabled the development and commercialization of safe, high energy density and ultra-fast charging solid-state batteries.

Sumin Zhu obtained a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Nanjing Tech University in 2002. Sumin then attended the University of Science and Technology of China in 2002-2003 for Materials Sciences and Engineering. Following this, they earned an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. In 2005-2008, they earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (Ceramic Engineering) from Missouri University of Science and Technology. In 2013-2014, they obtained an MBA level certificate in Marketing Strategy from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management. Lastly, they obtained a Master's Certificate in Project Management from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business in 2012. Currently, they are enrolled in Wharton Executive Education for SCALING A BUSINESS: HOW TO BUILD A UNICORN.
