Vicky (Qingxia) Han has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Vicky (Qingxia) began their career as a Junior Physician at Henan Provincial Center of Diseases Prevention and Control (Henan CDC) from July 1997 to August 2002. Vicky (Qingxia) then worked as a Postdoc at Penn State University from June 2009 to November 2011, conducting research on Hepatitis C Virus replication. Vicky (Qingxia) identified critical domains in HCV NS4B which are essential for HCV genome replication and virus assembly. Following this, they joined Albany Medical Center as a Postdoc from December 2011 to February 2014.

In 2014, Vicky joined the University of California, Riverside as an Assistant Specialist. During their time there, they contributed to uncovering a new mechanism of antiviral innate immunity in mammals, involving virus-derived, siRNA-mediated antiviral immunity. This mechanism is highly conserved in plants and insects and was previously thought to be replaced by the type I interferon system in mammals. Their role at the university lasted from February 2014 to September 2019.
