Sara Linnea Bower has held a variety of roles over the years, beginning with a Barista at Peet's Coffee in 2018. Sara Linnea then worked as a Personal Assistant in 2018 and an Exhibit Guide at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center in 2019. In the same year, they also held a Divemaster Internship at Two Fish Divers and worked as a Diver at Aquarium of the Bay. In 2019, they began working as an Academic Coach and Science Instructor at Main Street Scholars. In 2021, they were a Summer Research Intern at the University of Hawaii Health and Stranding Lab. In 2022, they were a STEM Fellow at NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, as well as an Operations and Sustainability Analyst and Corporate Social Responsibility Intern at bp pulse fleet (formerly AMPLY Power). Sara Linnea also received funding from the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program in 2018, where they created a research budget and detailed research plan and carried out research at the UH Health and Stranding Lab.

Sara Linnea then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Global Environmental Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, graduating in 2022.
