Steve Koerner

Steve Koerner has worked in a variety of roles in the public policy sector since 1999. Steve began their career as a Legislative Assistant in the Office of Congressman Rick Lazio in 1999, followed by a role as an Account Manager at Health Search International in 2000. In 2003, they moved to the Office of Senator Richard Lugar as a Legislative Assistant, where they tracked federal legislative developments in energy, telecommunications, banking, tax, labor, trade, manufacturing, and science policy. In 2008, they took on the role of Policy Director, Energy & Sustainability Initiatives at the Council on Competitiveness, where they developed policy recommendations and program activities in partnership with leading U.S. corporations, national laboratories, and universities. From 2009 to 2013, they were the Director of Government Affairs at Kanner & Associates, representing municipal electric utilities and joint action agencies at the federal level. Steve then moved to Recurrent Energy as the Manager, Federal Affairs and then the Director of Government Affairs, developing and executing the company's federal affairs strategy and leading state-level policy efforts in the Eastern U.S. In 2018, they founded and ran a public policy consultancy called Policy Strategy & Insight, LLC. In 2020, they joined Boundary Stone Partners as the Senior Vice President, and in 2022 they moved to bp pulse fleet (formerly AMPLY Power) as the Vice President, Policy.

Steve Koerner obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Georgetown University between 1985 and 1989. Steve then went on to pursue a Ph.D in American History at the University of Virginia from 1989 to 2001.
