Christian Zacariassen

EVP, CIO at Amtrak

Christian Zacariassen was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) in August 2018; he was appointed Vice President and CIO in October 2017. Christian reports directly to Amtrak President and CEO Richard Anderson and is responsible for all information technology (IT) business systems, including strategy, technology investment portfolio governance, systems development, infrastructure, IT operations and information security. Christian and his team work to increase efficiencies, generate revenue and improve the customer and employee experience by delivering IT solutions that modernize and simplify Amtrak’s digital technology and data analytics.

In 2013, Christian joined the company as Chief, Infrastructure Services and later was promoted to Associate Vice President of Product, Portfolio & Customer Management. Prior to his time at Amtrak, Christian held the position of Vice President, Information Technology (Head of Global IT Infrastructure) for Life Technologies. He also served as a sergeant in the Norwegian Army.

Christian graduated from the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics and Business Administration. He is also a member of the IBM GTS Client Advisory Board.
