Senior Manager Engineering Structural Design at Amtrak

Kevin McDermott, PE, CBSI has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Kevin started their career in 1994 as a Project Structural Engineer at Goodkind & Odea, Inc. Kevin then worked at Integrated Construction Enterprises, Inc. as a Project Manager and Design-Build Project Engineer. McDermott later joined the Railroad Construction Company (RCC) as a Project Manager. In 2005, they became a Senior Structural Engineer-Diver at Halcrow, a CH2M HILL Company, and continued in a similar role at Ocean and Coastal Consultants from 2006 to 2008. McDermott then worked as a Senior Marine Structural Engineer at Urban Engineers, Inc. in 2008. From 2009 to 2015, they served as a Senior Project Engineer/Structural Inspector at SEPTA, performing various duties related to rail transportation structures. Currently, since 2015, McDermott is employed at Amtrak. Kevin has held roles such as Senior Principal Engineer, Principal Structural Engineer, Project Manager, and Senior Structural Engineer at Amtrak, showcasing their expertise in structural engineering and project management.

Kevin McDermott, PE, CBSI obtained a Commercial Diver Certification from Divers Academy International in 2004. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Structural Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1996. In addition to their educational qualifications, Kevin also holds various certifications, including RWP/AMT-2 from Amtrak and NORAC - PC qualified from SEPTA Regional Railroad. Kevin is also a Professional Engineer certified by the state of NJ.
