Pat Ackroyd

Pat Ackroyd has over two decades of experience in the railway engineering sector, currently serving as a Senior Clearance Engineer at Amtrak since January 1999. This role involves overseeing and authorizing Amtrak's movements to meet clearance standards for high and wide equipment, as well as monitoring new construction projects for compliance. Earlier, Ackroyd managed the Catenary Test Car, focusing on the construction and maintenance of systems distributing power to trains, and implemented a Vehicle Dynamic Monitoring System for the Acela fleet, enhancing ride quality through autonomous sensor data. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Survey Director at CSX, conducting track inspections along the East Coast, and contributing as an Electrical Engineer II at Conrail, where responsibilities included maintaining inspection systems and developing new testing technologies. Ackroyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology from Spring Garden College and completed education at Western Carolina University, following a high school diploma from Audubon Jr Sr High School.
