Gloria Sagala

Senior Lab Manager, Lab Services at Amyris

Gloria Sagala has over 13 years of work experience in various roles. From 2006 to 2008, they were a Formulation Manufacturing Technician at Baxter International Inc. From 2008 to 2009, they were a Biological Analyst at Yoh Scientific. During this time, they supervised technicians and analysts, monitored clean rooms for mold and microbes, and entered data into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). From 2009 to 2012, they were a Chemist at Bio-Rad Laboratories. During this time, they also served as a Teacher's Assistant at California State University, East Bay, where they taught lab sessions in Molecular Cell Biology and basic tools in mobilizing in a laboratory. From 2012 to 2014, they were an Associate Scientist II, Associate Scientist III, Senior Associate Scientist, Operations Engineer, and Biology Laboratory Manager at Amyris. In their role as Operations Engineer, they were a project manager for pipeline optimizations that impacted efficiency, data structure, and standard procedures. As Senior Associate Scientist, they specialized in transferring manual bench workflow into automated versions and focused on standardization and continuous improvement in workflows for laboratory inventory, sample management, process, EH&S training, and equipment maintenance. Finally, from 2014 to present, they are a Senior Lab Manager at Amyris.

Gloria Sagala obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from California State University - East Bay between 2004 and 2006. Gloria then went on to receive their Master's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from the same institution between 2008 and 2010.
