James Dean Flynn has worked in a variety of roles in the scientific field. In 2021, they began working as an Associate Scientist II at Amyris, where they were responsible for process development of key Modified Yeast metabolic pathways through fermentation, executing experiments on the Ambr 250 Sartorius scale Bioreactors, and troubleshooting manufacturing fermentors and recovery of WCB for assay preparation. In 2019, they began working as a Research Associate at MBP Titan, where they were responsible for building up and breaking down multiple Bioreactors, process development of 1-L and Micro scale fermentation, and conducting analytical micro fermentation experiments. In 2017, they worked as an Intern at Intrexon Corporation, where they practiced basic principles of fermentation and microbiology and performed experiments to identify specific metabolic activity of various microbes. In 2015, they worked as an Undergraduate Lab Assistant under Marina Kalyuzhnaya at San Diego State University, where they performed continuous aseptic techniques, created solutions of media for specific microbes, and made serial dilutions to reduce concentrations of given solutions. In 2014, they worked as a Recruiter for Asthma and Allergy related clinical trials at Palos Verdes Medical Group.
James Dean Flynn attended San Diego State University from 2013 to 2018, graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology.
