Gene Alston

Gene Alston has extensive experience in leadership roles across various technology and corporate sectors. Currently serving as a Board Member for Ancestry since May 2021, Alston previously held multiple senior positions at Meta, including VP of Commerce Business & Operations and VP of Facebook Global Marketing Partnerships from July 2017 to July 2022. Prior to Meta, Alston was Head of Corporate & Business Development at Pinterest and held the role of VP/GM of Groupon Payments at Groupon. Alston's experience also includes significant tenures at PayPal, XO Communications, and Verizon, as well as a foundational career in the US Navy as a Lieutenant. Alston's academic credentials include a JD from UCLA School of Law, an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, a Master's in Information & Data Science from UC Berkeley, and a BS in Biology from the University of Washington.
