Co-Founder & CEO at Andela

As CEO and Co-Founder of Andela, we were founded in 2014 on the premise that brilliance is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. We are a global talent marketplace that connects companies with vetted, remote technologists. Broadly recognized as a leader in the transition to remote work, Andela has catalyzed the growth of tech ecosystems across six continents and become a trusted talent partner for hundreds of leading engineering firms, including GitHub, Cloudflare, and ViacomCBS. Andela is backed by investors including SoftBank, Whale Rock, Generation Investment Management, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Spark Capital, and Google Ventures.

Prior to Andela, I co-founded 2U, which powers world-class online education and has continued to become globally recognized in the space. While there, I had the pleasure of serving in multiple leadership roles as we took 2U to the public market.

I have had the honor of being recognized broadly for my work as an innovator in both education technology and the future of work. I’ve spoken at the White House and Congress in addition to most major global tech conferences, and have had the pleasure of being recognized by Fast Company as “One of the 100 Most Creative in Business,” by Goldman Sachs as “One of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs,” and by my Samoyed, Scout, as an excellent provider of treats.

Outside of Andela, I serve on the Presidential Advisory Board for Job Creation for the African Development Bank, I am a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and I have served as a Member of The Commission on the Future of Undergraduate Education for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and co-authored a book for the World Economic Forum: ‘Education & Skills 2.0: New Targets & Innovative Approaches.’
