Frankwell began their career at UMC, where they worked as a manager for a considerable period of time.

Frankwell Lin 林志明 earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrophysics from National Chiao Tung University between 1977 and 1981. Frankwell then pursued further education at Portland State University, where they attained a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from 1986 to 1988.
