Oscar Mora

Oscar Mora has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Oscar currently serves as a Senior Software Architect at Ando Inc, where they focus on cloud-first design, infrastructure, DevSecOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Oscar drives key decisions and best practices to adopt Serverless architecture principles, enabling high scalability, reliability, resiliency, and security. Oscar designed and implemented bulk processing and ETL pipelines using a serverless/cloud-first approach, allowing for rapid processing of hundreds of thousands of records. Oscar also played a crucial role in designing the backbone of the Terragrunt/Terraform IaC and automating the rollout of cloud infrastructure to AWS.

Prior to this, they worked as a Senior DevOps Engineer at Platform Science, leading efforts in infrastructure as code, IoT real-time communications, and DevSecOps best practices. Oscar successfully rolled out AWS IoT for pub/sub communications with field devices, replacing the legacy XMPP protocol with a cloud-managed MQTT protocol and significantly increasing scalability.

At Illumina, Oscar served as a Cloud DevOps Architect, leading the DevOps team for a DNA sequencing analysis application. Oscar coordinated operational activities across teams in multiple regions, built and maintained infrastructure automation, deployed and monitored the application on various environments and geographical regions. Oscar closely collaborated with the development team to identify and resolve performance issues and improve system observability.

During their tenure at Renovate America, Oscar held multiple roles such as Enterprise Architect/DevOps Lead, Dev Manager, and Dev Lead. Oscar embraced the DevOps culture and built processes and tools to empower developers to ship, monitor, and enhance their systems. Oscar worked through different stages of the company, from inception to explosive growth and transformation into a more formal organization.

In addition to these roles, Oscar has worked as a Senior Software Engineer (Consultant) at LPL Financial, Pelotonics, Rain Bird, Trade Service Corporation, Five Point Capital, and Microsoft.

Oscar Mora completed their Bachelor's degree majoring in Electronics Engineering at Universidad Simón Bolívar. During their education, they gained knowledge and skills in electronics, software development, and telecommunications. Additionally, Oscar obtained the certification of Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in October 2019.
