Ryan Pirooz is an experienced anesthesiologist currently serving as the Medical Director and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at St. Mary Mercy Hospital since June 2019, and has been with Anesthesia Associates of Ann Arbor, PLLC since August 2015. Pirooz completed an anesthesiology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from June 2012 to June 2015 and started medical training as an intern in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital from June 2011. Prior research experience includes developing a mouse model of traumatic brain injury at Wayne State University and supervising tumor growth in mice at the University of Michigan. Pirooz holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Wayne State University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan.
