Tumelo Shakwane

Tumelo Shakwane has extensive work experience in the field of sustainability and environmental management. They started their career in 1998 as a Senior Water Pollution Control Officer at the Department of Water Affairs. They then worked as an Assistant Director for Environmental Enforcement & Compliance Monitoring at the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs from 2002 to 2002. In 2003, Tumelo joined the Coega Development Corporation as an Environmental Control Officer. From 2004 to 2009, they served as an Environmental Manager at the Mangaung Local Municipality. Tumelo's career at AngloGold Ashanti began in 2010 as a Sustainability Audit Manager and later worked as the Senior Manager of Sustainability Assurance. They then held the position of a Senior Sustainability Manager and currently serve as the Vice President of Sustainability-Community Relations.

Tumelo Shakwane obtained an Honours Degree in Environmental Management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal between 1993 and 1996.
