Amanda Ross

Acting Principal Trumpet at Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra

Amanda Ross has a diverse work experience in the field of music. Amanda is currently serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, Applied Trumpet at Oakland University since 2022. Prior to that, they co-founded the band Girlnoise in 2015 and also worked as a Trumpet Player for the Bold City Contemporary Ensemble starting in 2020. Amanda has also served as the Acting Principal Trumpet with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra for two seasons from 2019 to 2021, where they performed various notable pieces. Amanda is also self-employed, working as a Private Instructor for young trumpet players and as a freelance musician, performing with different ensembles in various genres and locations. Additionally, they have worked at the University of Michigan in multiple roles, including Graduate Student Instructor, Trumpet Instructor, and Library Assistant.

Amanda Ross obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Performance with a Jazz emphasis from Baldwin Wallace University in 2013. Amanda then pursued a Master's Degree in Performance - Trumpet and Chamber Music at the University of Michigan from 2013 to 2015. Amanda continued their education at the University of Michigan, earning a Specialist degree in Performance - Trumpet from 2015 to 2017. Finally, they completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet from the University of Michigan between 2017 and 2020.
