John N. Abelson

A molecular biologist and a founding stockholder of Annai Systems, Dr. Abelson received his doctorate from Johns Hopkins and did postdoctoral work with Francis Crick and Sydney Brenner in Cambridge. He was a professor of chemistry at the University of California, San Diego, from 1968 to 1982, as well as a professor of biology at California Institute of Technology from 1982 to 2004 where he was chairman of the division of biology from 1989 to 1995. Dr. Abelson is the author of more than 200 journal articles and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. In 1984 he was a co-founder of Agouron Pharmaceuticals.
