Melvin I. Simon

Senior Advisor at Annai Systems

Dr. Simon has made important contributions to many areas of bacterial and human molecular genetics, including the Human Genome Project. After receiving a doctorate from Brandeis University and completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University, he joined the faculty of University of California, San Diego, in 1965. He moved to the California Institute of Technology in 1982, where he became the chairman of the Division of Biology in 1995. He continues to serve as the Anne P. and Benjamin F. Biaggini Professor of Biological Sciences, Emeritus (active). In 2007, Dr. Simon re-joined the faculty at UCSD. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1985 and was a co-founder of Agouron Pharmaceuticals.
