Laila Alabidi

Laila Alabidi has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Laila began their career as an Office Manager at Energy Reports Direct, where they established administration protocols and built up their database of freelance surveyors. Laila then worked as a Research Assistant at Queen Mary, University of London, where they collaborated on projects, presented their work at international conferences, and organized meetings for cosmologists in the UK.

Laila then transitioned into the field of astrophysics as a Research Fellow at Kyoto University in Japan. In this role, they tested various theories of the early Universe and developed programming skills in Matlab and C++. Laila later joined Sultan Qaboos University as a Visiting Consultant, teaching astronomy courses in both Arabic and English.

Moving into the field of data science, Laila worked as a Data Scientist at BenevolentAI, where they utilized Spark and Scikit-Learn to analyze text data and implement machine learning techniques. Laila then joined Mudano as a Data Scientist, where they built a recommender system, experimented with community detection algorithms, and developed machine learning models for a major retail bank. In their most recent role at Annalect, Laila served as a Data Science Director, utilizing their expertise to lead data science initiatives.

Throughout their career, Laila has demonstrated strong analytical and technical skills, as well as the ability to work in both research and client-facing roles. Laila has experience in programming, data analysis, predictive modeling, and teaching, making their a well-rounded professional in the field of data science.

Laila Alabidi has a strong educational background in physics and theoretical cosmology. Laila holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Jordan. Later, they pursued further studies at Newcastle University, where they obtained an MSc in Relativity, Cosmology, and Astrophysics. Laila continued their academic journey by completing a PhD in Theoretical Cosmology at Lancaster University.

Additionally, Laila has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills in data science.
